Here in the wilderness our meals consist mostly of venison, elk and this year we were blessed with moose, but occasionally we are blessed with chicken, turkey and pork.
I found some hormone free chicken breasts on sale and I love being able to cook them long and slow on low heat. Today that is exactly what I did, only in the All American Sun Oven.
Being able to utilize the sun as a slower cooker is just amazing to me. It allows me to work on other things that are important this time of year while at the same time dinner is cooking in the sun. Doesn't get any sweeter than that!!
Today, I did things very simply by just adding garlic, our homemade season salt and a little bit of water to the enamelware cooking dish that comes with the Sun Oven.
I just did a batch of naturally dyed fibers in my sun oven because I needed to get the dye baths going but we were going to be busy all day. I think it worked well – it was totally and experiment and I haven’t fiddled with the fibers yet. I love my solar oven, though, and use it all summer!
