Chronic inflammation and chronic pain are a chronic problem in our world today! With the quality of our food constantly going downhill, all the medications being quickly put into our bodies, the affects on our bodies from all the environmental toxins and also all the toxins in the things we put on our bodies a large portion of our population is one hot mess!
There is hope, I promise you!
I suffered with chronic inflammation which lead to chronic pain and today, I would like to share with you the steps I took to heal my body from both.
We had a long conversation about this on my
YouTube Live which you can find here.
What We Put In Our Bodies
First and foremost, I think it is most important to analyze what we are putting in our bodies. My first recommendation is to do an elimination diet. I did this by doing a bone broth cleanse and then slowly one by one adding things back in. Pay close attention to how you body reacts to the food you are eating.
I totally eliminated sugar, gmo’s, gluten, dairy, and I paid close attention to anything I ate with a label to the ingredients and stayed clear of anything not organic, non-gmo, and I ate nothing with natural flavorings. I feel it is also important to mention that years and years ago I gave up sodas and anything with high fructose corn syrup. We have been eating very clean for year, but when you have chronic inflammation, even the cleanest of diets might need to improve on eating more anti-inflammatory foods and avoiding inflammatory foods.
There is a lot to consider when it comes to what we are eating. We eat only grass-fed organic meats typically what we harvest from our surroundings, but this is something to consider.
Also keep in mind, what an animal eats, you will be eating. So for example, what you are feeding your chickens, you will be eating in their eggs.
Keep a food journal so you can really keep track of things for a while. Journaling will really help you on this journey.
Here is a list of foods that are helpful in combating inflammation:
- Fermented foods
- Broccoli
- Hemp oil, flax oil, avocado oil, and any oil loaded with omega-3 fatty acids
- Wild caught salmon
- Tart cherries
- Soaked walnuts or any nuts
- Onions & garlic
- Pineapple
- Spinach
- Ginger & Turmeric
- Avocados
- Manuka Honey (good resource coming)
I also enjoy a daily MUDWTR to start my day and a MUDWTR:Rest before bed.
What We Put On Our Bodies
Paying attention to what we are putting ON our bodies matters to. Lotions, makeup, hair products, soaps, perfumes, etc.
I was forced to go EXTREMELY clean after my surgery in 2016. I can not use anything that is not natural, organic, or non-gmo on my skin.
I have switched to using Monat hair products and for my skin I use Silent Tree Naturals, Beauty Counter, and Toups & Co. products.
Another consideration is the air fresheners, cleaning products, laundry detergents, dish soaps, etc. that you are using in your home.
For air fresheners, I use essential oils. All of my laundry, cleaning, and soap products are all natural and I purchase them through Grove.
All of this plays a huge roll in our bodies battle with inflammation. Day by day make it a point to get cleaner and cleaner and I promise you, you will feel better and better!
Additional Things We Can Do For Ourselves
Below you will find a list of things you can do to help you combat Chronic Inflammation:
- Start your day with lemon juice, stevia, and hot water. Throughout the day sip on water with apple cider vinegar. Both will help keep your body more alkaline.
- Find ways to distress and monitor your stress levels
- Stay active. Exercise is so crucial in our healing and combating inflammation. A good sweat helps to detox the body and remove inflammation.
- Stretch daily
- Raid the spice cabinet and use all your anti-inflammatory spices and herbs such as ginger, turmeric, black pepper, cayenne, clove, cinnamon, fennel
- Stay hydrated and drink a LOT of water
- Maintaining a healthy weight. As I discussed on my live video, chronic inflammation can lead to a lot of extra pounds, but as you put in place many of the above suggestions and you get your inflammation controlled it will be a lot easier to lose weight and maintain a healthy weight.
Natural Treatments
I have found a lot of natural treatments that really helped me greatly.
- Stretching helps to keep the muscles limber which allows everything in the body to work as it should.
- Keeping the lymphatic system open and draining. This can be accomplished with rebounding (mini-trampolines are a great form of exercise), by using tinctures such as Lymph Tone II and you can also use Lymph Tone III for extreme cases, and massage and deep muscle massage. I also use Activation products and the oils, phytoplankton, and the magnesium oil are a great help to my body as well.
- Another way to open the lymphatic, but also rehydrate and activate the facia is using the Melt Method balls for your hands and your feet.
- Dry brushing the body can help stimulate the lymphatic also.
- Using breathing, your mind, and hot and cold therapy can help stimulate the immune system. Check out www.wimhofmethod.com.
- Dependent on how long your body has been dealing with the stress of chronic inflammation and chronic pain, your body could be in a fight and flight loop. Retraining the brain will help put your brain on a new neuro pathway and will help your brain and body to be removed from fight and flight and onto a new journey of healing.
I hope this has been helpful and has added some additional tools to your tool belt. Have you dealt with chronic inflammation or pain? Have there been other things that have helped you on this journey, if so please share them in the comments below.
Blessings and happy healing,
Tam
